Representing Ha Tinh Province at the ceremony were: Hoang Trung Dung, Member of the Party Central Committee, Provincial Party Secretary and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council; Tran Tien Hung, Member of the Party Central Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; Tran The Dung, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; along with other members of the Provincial Party Standing Committee.
The Cua Hoi Bridge spans the Lam River, connecting Cua Lo Town (Nghe An Province) and Nghi Xuan District (Ha Tinh Province), with a total investment of VND 950 billion, including VND 450 billion from government bonds, VND 250 billion from Nghe An’s provincial budget, and VND 250 billion from Ha Tinh’s provincial budget.
This project is a meaningful achievement celebrating the success of the 13th National Party Congress.
The project has a total length of 5.271 kilometers, of which the main bridge (Cua Hoi Bridge) is 1.728 kilometers long. The main bridge is 18.5 meters wide, and the approach bridges are 16 meters wide. A key highlight of Cua Hoi Bridge is the main span using an extradosed cable-stayed balanced cantilever structure — one of the most advanced bridge construction technologies in Vietnam today.
The project starts at Km0+00, connecting to Provincial Road 535 and the planned road of Cua Lo Town (located in Nghi Hai Ward, Cua Lo Town, Nghe An Province) and ends by linking with the coastal road project implemented by Ha Tinh Province, about 200 meters from the junction with National Highway 8B, located in Dan Truong Commune, Nghi Xuan District (Ha Tinh Province).
Construction began on February 15, 2019. Despite challenges from the COVID-19 pandemic and unfavorable weather conditions, the investor and contractors made great efforts, allowing Cua Hoi Bridge to be substantially completed and ready for public use.
Chairman of the Ha Tinh Provincial People’s Committee, Tran Tien Hung, stated that the commissioning of this bridge will contribute to completing the coastal road network through Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces, improve the transportation system across the Lam River, gradually complete the North Central region's transport infrastructure, and create favorable conditions for socio-economic development while unlocking the tourism potential of both provinces.
Recently, to meet travel needs during the Lunar New Year (Tet) of the Year of the Ox, the Ministry of Transport allowed vehicles such as non-motorized vehicles, motorcycles, cars with fewer than 15 seats, and trucks under 1.5 tons to use Cua Hoi Bridge from February 6 to March 15.
Cua Hoi Bridge will contribute to completing the coastal route through Nghe An and Ha Tinh, opening new pathways for local socio-economic development, enhancing the investment environment, boosting economic growth, and strengthening national defense and security in Nghe An, Ha Tinh, and the broader North Central Region.
Chairman of the Nghe An Provincial People’s Committee, Nguyen Duc Trung, noted that recognizing the importance of this project, Nghe An closely coordinated efforts in capital allocation, site clearance, and ensuring public security to keep the project on schedule.
On behalf of the Prime Minister, Minister of Transport Nguyen Van The officially announced the opening of the bridge. He expressed gratitude to the Party, the Government, and various ministries and agencies for their support of the transport sector in upgrading transportation infrastructure, contributing to socio-economic development, reducing regional disparities, and minimizing traffic accidents.
Minister Nguyen Van The also praised the strong efforts of the authorities of Nghe An and Ha Tinh in disbursing funds, clearing sites, and maintaining security and order, enabling the investor and construction units to complete the project on schedule and with the desired quality.
For the remaining works, the Minister requested that the construction units concentrate manpower and resources to complete the project as soon as possible to fully meet travel demands.
The Minister also urged Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces to strictly comply with legal regulations regarding the management, operation, and protection of the bridge, ensuring smooth and efficient operation. Special attention was called to maintaining traffic order and safety, and promptly addressing any violations on Cua Hoi Bridge.
